Somatic Breathwork: Unlocking Healing, Releasing Trauma, and Awakening the Soul

Updated: Mar 15

The universe has a way of placing us exactly where we need to be, orchestrating events in divine timing, even when we don’t fully understand it at the moment. I had unknowingly prepared for my own healing before I even realized I needed it.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for a Somatic Breathwork Ceremony as part of my Conscious Business Accelerator Program hosted by Aaron Doughty & Victor Oddo. At the time, I simply saw it as another tool to expand my business and personal growth.

I had no idea how deeply it would serve me. I had no idea that just days before the session, I would lose my best friend. That I would be mourning. That my heart would be shattered in ways I wasn’t yet ready to process.

And then the blood full moon arrived. A time of release, of endings, of transformation.

It was the perfect storm. It was divinely orchestrated.

There is a healing power within us, a force so simple yet so profound that we often overlook it—our breath. I didn’t fully understand this until I experienced somatic breathwork firsthand. It wasn’t just another wellness trend; it was a deeply transformational experience that peeled back layers of stored emotions, helped me release pain, and reconnected me to my most authentic self.

If you’ve ever felt weighed down by unprocessed emotions, childhood wounds, or lingering trauma, or if you’ve simply felt stuck without knowing why, this practice could change your life—just as it changed mine.

Let’s begin with the basics: what is somatic breathwork, and why does it have such a powerful impact on our mind, body, and spirit?

The Power of Breath as a Healing Tool

Breathwork is more than just deep breathing—it is a portal to the subconscious, a method of energetic release, deep emotional healing, and spiritual expansion. When we engage in conscious, controlled breathwork, we bypass the thinking mind and tap into the stored memories, trauma, and emotions that have been trapped within our bodies—sometimes for decades.

This practice can help with:

  • Reducing stress & anxiety

  • Regulating the nervous system

  • Processing stuck emotions

  • Healing deep-rooted trauma

  • Removing energetic blockages

  • Reconnecting with the inner child

  • Experiencing spiritual clarity & awakening

For me, this breathwork session was all of the above—and more.

My Experience: A Four-Round Journey Through the Breath

This was a guided four-round session of intensive mouth breathing, followed by a final round of conscious nose-to-mouth breathing. Each round was designed to peel away layers of stored energy, like an excavation of my soul.

Round 1: The Unraveling (Physical & Emotional Release)

As I began the first round of deep, intentional mouth breathing, I felt anger, sadness, frustration rise to the surface. The breath shook my body, my arms and legs tingled and curled inward (which was explained to me as a very natural reaction of the body while doing Somatic work). The music—raw, tribal, primal—amplified my emotions.

And then, the tears came. I sobbed, I yelled, I released.

I didn't even know what I was crying for—was it grief? Was it the unspoken words? Was it years of suppressing emotions? It was everything.

The emotions I had instinctively pushed down after my best friend’s passing rushed out of me like a tidal wave. I realized that for so long, I had been conditioned to suppress emotions, to “be strong,” to hold my grief inside because expressing it felt inappropriate, too vulnerable, too raw.

But the breath knew better than my mind. The breath unlocked what my soul needed to release.

Round 2: Meeting My Inner Child (Deep Emotional Healing)

In the second round, my breath deepened. I continued breathing heavily, each inhale pulling something buried from deep within me, each exhale releasing it into the universe.

And then, I saw her. My five-year-old self, fists clenched, wearing a red dress, furious. My teenage self, sitting silently, rage flickering in her eyes. They had been waiting for me. Waiting for me to see them. Waiting for me to acknowledge the pain they had been carrying.

I held space for them. I let them express their anger, their hurt, their confusion. And then, I let them go. Tears streamed down my face as I whispered to them, "You are free now. You don’t have to hold this anymore."

It felt like releasing a lifetime of emotional burdens—not just mine, but generations before me.

Round 3: The Revelation (My Life Purpose)

This was the round where I asked my higher self what my purpose is.

The answer was simple. "Only Love." I gasped. Tears welled up in my eyes again.

"Love, deeply. Love freely. Love wildly. Love unconditionally." "With all your wounds, all your traumas. Choose love. Be love. Share love."

Love is the purpose. Love is the healing. Love is the only thing that matters.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude. For my friend, for my father, for every moment that had led me here.

I understood, in that moment, that my best friend’s death was not just an ending—it was a gift. A message from beyond to live now, to love now, to stop waiting for the perfect moment to embrace life.

Round 4: The Manifestation (Calling in My Desires)

The final round was different—this time, we breathed in through the nose and out through the mouth, filling the sacred space that had been emptied.

And now, I spoke my desires into existence.

✨ I called in financial abundance.✨ I called in health, vitality, and strength.✨ I called in patience, compassion, and deeper understanding.✨ I called in freedom—the ability to travel, to experience life fully.✨ I called in the expansion of my gifts, so I could share my light with the world.

I reclaimed what I have always been worthy of.

With my heart wide open, I breathed it all in, knowing the universe had already begun to rearrange itself in my favor.

Breathwork as a Tool for Inner Child Healing & Spiritual Growth

This experience solidified something for me: Healing is not just in the mind. It is in the body. It is in the breath. When we breathe with intention, we clear energetic blocks, release stored trauma, and reconnect with the parts of us that have been waiting for love.

If you are feeling stuck, emotionally numb, weighed down by the past—breathwork is one of the most powerful tools you can explore.

You don’t have to do it alone. You don’t need to know how. You just have to be willing.

How to Start Your Own Breathwork Journey

If you feel called to explore this practice, breathwork can be done at home or with a facilitator. Here’s how you can start:

🌬️ Simple Breathwork for Beginners: Try a basic technique like box breathing—inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds. This is a great way to calm the nervous system.

🎧 Guided Breathwork Sessions: If you want a deeper experience, I highly recommend trying a free guided session. Here are some available resources:

If you feel ready for a live facilitated session, consider finding a certified breathwork practitioner near you or joining an online guided breathwork class.

Final Reflection: A Divine Orchestration

Looking back, I know this was divinely planned. The blood moon, the timing of my best friend’s passing, the breathwork ceremony—it was all aligned.

I am deeply grateful—to my spirit guides, my angels, my father, my best friend—for this perfect divine timing of healing.

I am no longer holding back. I am here to love, to live, to breathe in all that life has to offer.

And if you are reading this, so are you.

Take a breath. Start now.

💜 With so much love & gratitude,

Solarys

Great insight on breathing. I have tried them myself and still continue to do it as part of my ritual. Breath or Qi in Chinese is the source of energy. Move energy that is in you, you move energy that is around you.
